These days, the number of men and women entering medical school is about evenly split.

But women make up less than 20 percent of the country’s surgeons.

In tonight’s Healthy Living, we meet one doctor who is trying to change that.

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, the total numbers of applicants to medical school right now is up.

This comes at a time when the country faces a shortage of more than 90,000 doctors by the end of the decade.
