Heavy Snow, Gusty Winds Expected Through Monday

Lake effect snow will mean reduced visibility and slick roads as we start the work week.

Because many areas are already seeing rough road conditions, police agencies are urging people to stay home unless it’s absolutely necessary to drive somewhere. And if you do need to go out, make sure your headlights are on.

Here is a breakdown from Meteorologist Emily Kennedy on what to expect the next couple of days:

A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for Chippewa, Mackinac, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Manistee, Wexford, Leelanau, Antrim, Otsego, Emmet, Cheboygan and Charlevoix counties until 12 a.m. Tuesday. Those areas could see 5-10" of snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for Crawford and Missaukee counties until 12 a.m. Tuesday. Upwards of 4-8" of snow is expected in those areas.

A Winter Weather Advisory for Mason, Lake, Oceana and Newaygo counties lasts until 7am Tuesday. Areas in those counties should also expect 4-8" of snow.
