Former Flint Marine Heads Home After Prisoner Swap

A former U.S. Marine with ties to Flint Michigan is one of the five Americans released in a prisoner swap between the U.S. and Iran.

Amir Hekmati was one of the five Americans released on Saturday, January 16 after international sanctions were lifted from Iran.

Michigan Representative Dan Kildee is flying with Hekmati’s relatives tonight January 17 to Germany to pick him up on Monday, January 18.

Hekmati’s relatives have been waiting for this reunion for 4 ½ years.

Kildee says this is as step forward for the U.S. government he says the biggest failures of the U.S. government in the last few decades were failures to engage in diplomacy.
