A local physician assistant will spend 14 months in prison for accepting $1,000 in kickbacks.
Kyle Gandy practiced in Mount Pleasant.
Court documents say Gandy referred patients to medical clinics, physical therapy clinics and a home health care agency in exchange for money.
He’ll be on probation for two years and have to pay more than $18,000 in restitution.
He also can’t participate in Medicare or Medicaid programs for five years.
Gandy is the tenth person convicted on felony charges related to the kickback scheme initiated by Babubhai Rathod.
