Isabella Healthcare Group Receives Grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan

People in Isabella County now have better access to health care thanks to a new grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation.

The Foundation awarded the check to the Isabella Citizens for Health this morning at their clinic in Mount Pleasant.

The group will use the $100,000 grant to provide more services to people who don’t have health insurance, or are underinsured.

The group’s executive director says they already have plans to make sure the grant helps as many people as possible.

"Our medical providers will have more resources available to them and in this particular case we’ll have a case manager who can help navigate patients through referrals and coordination of care. They can also help educate them on newly diagnosed conditions or disease processes," says Jennifer White.

House Speaker Kevin Cotter was also at today’s presentation.

He says he’s thrilled to see access to healthcare is a priority in the area.
