Half of Detroit’s Public Schools Closed Due To Teacher Protest

More than half of Detroit’s 100 public schools are closed Monday due to a teacher protest.

Nearly 60 schools are closed because of what’s called a "sick out".

The protest started last week over pay and general turmoil in the district.

Detroit school’s sent out a warning that a "minority" of teachers were planning to protest.

The main teachers’ union says they haven’t sanctioned the sick outs, but they are certainly frustrated with the working conditions.
