Grand Traverse Deputies Arrest Man Accused of Assaulting Deputy

Grand Traverse County deputies arrested a man who they say assaulted a deputy during a drunk driving investigation.

The passenger in the suspect’s vehicle was arrested for assaulting the officer and resisting arrest.

Deputies say David Fielder, from Traverse City, attacked a deputy as his wife was being arrested for drunk driving on Old Mission Peninsula.

They say Fielder tried to put the deputy in a headlock.

Deputies had to use a taser on him.

His wife is set to be charged next week.

The deputy’s injuries were minor and he is expected to be back on the job next week.
