Mother Admits To Trying To Smuggle Drugs Into Grand Traverse County Prison

A mother admitted to trying to sneak prescription drugs to her son in prison.

The mother tried to smuggle the drugs into the Pugsley Correctional Facility in Grand Traverse County in October.

Jamie Rise pleaded guilty Tuesday to trying to use mail to sneak Suboxone, a drug that blocks cravings for heroin and painkillers into the prison.

Investigators say she tried to hide the powder behind postage stamps.

Rise tried to deliver the drugs to her son, Robert Eling III, who is in prison on other drug charges in several counties.

She will be sentenced later this month.
