Peninsula Fire Department Investigating House Fire

The flames may be gone but now Peninsula Fire is looking into what may have sparked this fire in the first place.

The fire started Monday morning at a home on Smokey Hollow Road on Old Mission Peninsula

The house was being renovated at the time so no one was inside.

A contractor showed up around nine o’clock and saw the house on fire.

Fire crews had to close off the road and took about three hours to put it out.

Neighbors say all they could see was smoke.

Neighbor Dan Fouche says, “When I came back home about noon Smokey Hollow was blocked off. Peninsula was here obviously, Metro was here and they were working really aggressively. There was a lot of smoke coming out of the house and out of the windows. I never saw any actual flames, just a lot of smoke.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
