Hook and Hunting: Deer Season Wrap-Up

Deer hunting season’s end has many Upper Peninsula hunters hoping for better luck next year.

Hunters in the U.P. say this year was slow.

The deer they saw were antlerless most of the time.

Hunters chock that up to the last few winters we’ve had.

It’s disappointing, but not unexpected.

"They knew that they weren’t seeing much on their trail cameras, but for many of them, they’re pretty die hard," Leitz Sport Center firearms department manager Brian Harrison said. "They’re going to go anyway, so that’s part of the deal."

Hunters are hopeful this year’s mild winter will lead to a better season next year.
