Cadillac Hospital Receives Thousands in Donations For New Fund

A local company is donating $10,000 to Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital toward a new fund.

That donation was later doubled and now $20,000 is going to help the hospital recruit physicians to the area.

“And without physicians in our community there’s really not anything we can do for the community as a hospital.”

Munson Healthcare Cadillac hospital is receiving $10,000 from FIAMM Technology. The money is going towards a new fund focusing on physician recruitment.

Hospital President Tonya Smith says, “So it was the first donation we had to initiate the fund and we were really excited that there was a local industrial partner who recognized the value of providers in our community and the value of providing access to care for our citizens.”

And from there more donations rolled in.

Joe Santagelo M.D. is the president of Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital medical staff. He says, “We were really excited to hear about the community support from local businesses and the fact that the foundation had been interested in setting up a fund for this and so it just seemed like a natural fit for us to put our money there.”

The hospital’s Medical Executive Committee decided to match FIAMM’s donation bringing the grand total to $20,000. Now it’s just a matter of getting Cadillac’s name out there.

Santagelo says, “And if you’re not putting your name out there and letting providers know it’s Cadillac’s a great place to practice then they’re not going to come here.”

Hospital President Tonya Smith says, “So things like medical school scholarships or can we provide housing to medical students who may want to do their rotations here in our community for medical school but may need a place to live while they’re here. We invest in their education and they consider practicing here when they’re done."

The Cadillac hospital says it has already began its recruiting process.
