Michigan’s Population Sees Slight Increase In Past Year

Michigan’s population is slightly growing.

The state’s population rose slightly, about a tenth of a percent, between July of 2014 and 2015.

That’s the slowest growth since 2012.

Michigan is the tenth largest state.

It dropped one spot last year, falling behind North Carolina.

Demographer Kurt Metzger believes the growth trends point to a loss of one congressional seat for Michigan after the 2020 census.
