Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Will Not Issue Charges Against Deputy That Accidentally Discharged Gun
The Grand Traverse County prosecutor decided not to issue any charges against a sheriff’s deputy who accidentally discharged a gun last month.
The prosecutor says the deputy was performing routine firearms maintenance and practicing shooting drills.
The deputy didn’t think a round was in the chamber.
A bullet went through the wall of the recreational vehicles building in Garfield Township.
No one else was in the building and the deputy reported the incident right away.
