CMU volleyball coach Erik Olson resigns
MT. PLEASANT – Central Michigan University head volleyball coach Erik Olson formally resigned from his position on Tuesday after spending the last two months on a paid leave of absence, according to the school.
Olson’s resignation is effective Dec. 31, 2015.
Olson was placed on a paid leave of absence for undisclosed reasons by the CMU athletic department on Oct. 6, with the school declining to comment as the situation was an “ongoing personal matter.”
Assistant coaches Adam Rollman, Kelly Maxwell and Theresa Beckman served in Olson’s absence.
Olson was named CMU’s head coach in 2004, compiling a 161-183 overall record and leading the Chippewas to the 2011 Mid-American Conference Tournament championship.
