Mount Pleasant Already Planning Fight Against Mosquitoes For Next Summer

We’re just getting into the cold winter months, but Mount Pleasant is already planning their fight against mosquitoes for next summer.

The city plans to spend more than $85,000 to control mosquitoes with chemical spray.

City commissioners adopted the bid Monday after a public hearing.

Those in favor of spraying for mosquitoes say the bugs raise concerns over West Nile virus.

But people against spraying say it could kill flies and other types of insects, ultimately impacting birds, frogs and other animals along the food chain.
