Harrison Veterans Freedom Park to Host Inaugural Ceremony

It’s a special event for the community to show those who have served our country just how thankful we are for the sacrifices they’ve made for us.

The ceremony starts at 10:30 this morning.

There will be a flag dedication at the park, and a luncheon for veterans at the local VFW.

Bricks commemorate local veterans who’ve served in various branches — in order to honor those with us and those who’ve passed.

“They all, whether living or dead, would appreciate it because you’re honoring them for what they did. Who some of them never were thanked like they should have been,” said Malcolm Wilson, a veteran who lives in Clare County.

As of today, the Veterans Park is about 80 percent complete.

The Veterans Affairs Office in Clare County is still fundraising for the finishing touches.
