Governor Snyder Will Sign New Road Funding Package on Tuesday

Governor Rick Snyder plans to sign the road funding package.

Approved last week, the package includes a 7.3 cent gas tax hike and a 20percent increase in vehicle registration fees in 2017.

It also includes an expanded tax credit for lower to middle-class homeowners and renters that will go into effect in 2018.

The other half of the money for the permanent $1.2 billion increase in spending will come from shifting general funds to the road budget.

Northern Michigan’s News Leader will have a crew in Lansing for the signing.

We’ll have continuing coverage Tuesday on 9 and 10 News.
