Economy Adds 271,000 Jobs in October

October was a strong month for job growth in the United States.

The economy added 271,000 jobs last month.

The unemployment rate is now at its lowest level since 2008 at just five percent.

That ties Michigan’s most recent rate.

Experts say the jobs report is better than expected, and it increases the odds that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates in December.

They’ve been at zero since the 2008 financial crisis.
