Lawmakers Approve Bill to Include Financial Course in Graduation Requirement

Michigan high school students could soon have a new option to fulfill their graduation requirements.

High school seniors must pass a half-credit economics course to graduate.

A bill heading to Governor Snyder’s desk would let students take a financial literacy course to fulfill that.

School code already allows a course in financial literacy to fill one math class.

Supporters say the change would give teachers more flexibility and students a better understanding of basic finances.
