Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Issues Warrant in Child Abuse Investigation
The prosecutor in Grand Traverse County issued a warrant for a woman in connection with a child abuse investigation.
It goes back to an incident at Bay Hill Apartments last month.
Police were called to the apartments for a three-month-old boy bleeding from the mouth
Officers arrested Shyann Topous.
When they got there, they found her boyfriend had been a victim of domestic violence.
Now, Topous faces charges for second degree child abuse and having a controlled substance.
The prosecutor says Topous was drunk and seriously hurt the child who is still recovering.
“A long period of time there we were concerned about the child he was in critical care for a substantial period of time and now again it appears he is doing fine and making a remarkable recovery so we’re happy about that.”
The prosecutor says these are charges his office takes extremely seriously.
