Tigers’ Daniel Norris has successful surgery, now cancer-free

Detroit Tigers left-hander Daniel Norris announced Thursday on Instagram that he is now cancer-free, following successful surgery to remove a malignant tumor in his thyroid.

The post comes 10 days after Norris announced he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

“I just want to thank everyone for the thoughts & prayers,” Norris said in an Instagram post. “Surgery was successful & I am Cancer Free.”

Norris was first diagnosed with the disease earlier this year while pitching in the Toronto Blue Jays organization with Triple-A Buffalo.
