Enbridge Makes Plans For Line 5 Oil Spill Practice Drill in St. Clair River

Preparing for a potential oil spill will have Enbridge and emergency response teams on the water next year.

In May, they’ll practice downstate along the St. Clair River, south of Port Huron.

It will simulate a 13 minute, 5,000 barrel break in Line 5.

It follows a similar exercise that was held in the Straits of Mackinac back in September.

The drill simulated a leak from Line 5.

The pipelines are part of a network running from North Dakota to Sarnia, Ontario.

Enbridge stands by its claim that Line 5 is safe.

Environmental groups want it shut down.
