Bill Introduced to Recognize Burt Lake Band As Official Native American Tribe

Moves in Washington today to recognize a Northern Michigan Native American tribe.

U.S. congressmen Dan Benishek and Debbie Dingell introduced a bill to recognize the Burt Lake Band as an official tribe.               

The Cheboygan-based native group has been looking for federal recognition for years.

Michigan is home to 13 federally recognized tribes.
