Gladwin County Fire Destroys Home, Road Back Open

A Gladwin County road is back open and everyone is doing OK after an intense house fire Tuesday morning.

The fire started around 6 a.m., completely destroying the home near Beaverton.

Two men made it out safely.

The Billings Township Fire Department says the fire happened on Estey Road.

The road is now open after firefighters closed it earlier to put out the flames.

There were two men inside at the time.

After one of them escaped, the Billings Township fire chief says he went in to rescue the other.

The other was taken to the hospital and is recovering well.

He is still being observed for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
