DEQ Says Federal Water Rules Were Not Followed in Flint

New details on the water emergency in Genesee County.

The head of Michigan’s Department of Environmental Quality says federal rules over drinking water were not being followed correctly.

Problems with lead in the water in Flint promoted a public health emergency.

The DEQ says "necessary changes" are being made.

On Friday, Flint reconnected to Detroit’s water system.

Originally, Flint’s switch to river water was aimed at saving money but left children with elevated lead levels.
