TC Commissioners Yet to Reach Decision Regarding Eighth Street Restriping

The future of Eighth Street is still up in the air.

After collecting data from a year-long restriping pilot program, Traverse City commissioners now have a decision to make.

They are focusing on changes to 8th Street between Boardman Avenue and Woodmere.

Monday night, commissioners looked at the economic tools and three major lane configuration options.

The commissioners did not come to a decision at Monday night’s meeting but did lean heavily towards one plan.

That included modified turn signals and extended turn lane.

Along with creating a right turn lane for westbound traffic where the road intersects Boardman.

Commissioners will likely take a vote at next week’s meeting.
