Snyder Calls for Flint to Reconnect to Detroit’s Water System

Governor Rick Snyder is calling for Flint to get its water from Detroit’s water system.

Flint has a public health emergency due to corrosive water leaching lead from old pipes.

Local health and water experts recommended that Flint connect to Detroit’s water system while it waits for a new pipeline to Lake Huron.

Governor Snyder says he will ask lawmakers for $6 million to help Flint through this process.

They will reconnect with the Great Lakes Water Authority through next summer, then Flint would transition to a new regional water authority.
