House Speaker Has Busy Month Before Stepping Down

House Speaker John Boehner says he will have a busy month before he steps down.

The lawmaker appeared on Face the Nation Sunday, where he promised to avoid a government shut down.

Things that must get done include long-term spending bills and an extension of the debt limit.

Failure to do them before the next Speaker raises a risk of having a financial standoff and a shutdown in December, as conservatives also demand congress de-fund Planned Parenthood.

Boehner says a special committee will investigate the controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood.
