Laker Hockey Launch

SAULT STE. MARIE – Lake Superior State’s Men’s Ice Hockey team held its second annual meet and greet today in Sault Ste. Marie.

Players signed autographs and interacted with future hockey stars on the ice.

In multiple preseason polls, the Lakers are ranked last. A stat Head Coach Damon Whitten says his team isn’t worried about heading into its upcoming games.

"It’s a bit of a talking point with our team,” said LSSU Men’s Ice Hockey Head Coach Damon Whitten. “We won’t spend too much time about it, though. I don’t care what people around college hockey say around us . . . we care about the guys in this locker room and people who run this program. They are the ones who determine where we finish. But it’s motivational . . . our guys see that and follow those things and it all provides motivation

The Lakers open regular season play Friday October 16 at Northern Michigan.
