Death Toll from Hajj Stampede Rises
The death toll from a stampede in Mina, just outside the Muslim holy city of Mecca, continues to climb.
719 are dead, and that number is expected to grow.
The stampede happened during this year’s Hajj, a pilgrimage that’s the largest annual gathering of people in the world.
Medics rushed to help hundreds more who were hurt in the chaos Thursday.
Saudi Arabia deployed 100 thousand forces hoping to keep people safe, but they couldn’t control the crowds.
About 2 million people participated in this year’s Hajj.
