Sanford Meridian ends Clare’s 34-game JPC win streak

CLARE – Sanford Meridian recorded one of its biggest wins in program history Friday night, ending Clare’s 34-game Jack Pine Conference win streak with a 32-10 victory.

The win marked the first for the Mustangs (4-0, 2-0 JPC) over Clare since 2007 and put Sanford Meridian in the driver’s seat for a conference championship.

“It’s something that I haven’t experienced before, so we’re kind of going to ride it out,” Sanford Meridian coach Mike Bilina said. “It’s a huge win for our program, for us and we’re just really happy to have the opportunity. One of those things where we knew we had to play mistake-free football tonight and we were pretty close to that. We tried to pound it out, eat some clock and just put drives together and fortunately for us it worked out tonight."

Sanford Meridian welcomes in Roscommon next Friday, while the Clare (1-3, 1-1 JPC) visits Beaverton.
