National Writers Series Takes Place in Traverse City
The fall season of the 2015 National Writers Series kicked off in Traverse City tonight.
Hundreds of readers were in the audience at the Opera House as author Hampton Sides had a conversation with series co-founder Doug Stanton.
The night allowed fans to get an inside look at Sides’ writing, his newest book and why he loves going on book tours.
“Publishers and publicists will traditionally send you to New York, Boston and San Francisco, and it’s towns like Traverse City you end up having a lot more fun, you meet readers who really want you to be there,” Sides says. “It’s great talking about craft. It is great thinking about why you do what you do and how you do it, and also meeting readers who have been reading your books and communication coming full circle.”
The next event for the 2015 fall season is “Bookmania,” Traverse City’s first NWS book festival. For more information visit their website.
