Fox Topix: Clock Controversy
What do you think about a student being handcuffed and questioned for bringing a homemade clock to school?
Texas high school student Ahmed Mohamed, known for tinkering with electronics, was handcuffed and questioned Wednesday after bringing a homemade clock to school. The 14-year-old used pieces of scrap metal and computer parts to make the clock. But, when he proudly brought it to school to show it off in class, one of his teachers thought it could have been a bomb.
An investigation showed the invention was harmless and the student was released. Ahmed’s father says his son was mistreated because of his Muslim name, but the school district says the safety of the students was their only concern.
President Obama found out about what happened and invited the boy to the White House to show it off.
Was this an overreaction?
