Upper Peninsula Resident Diagnosed With Bubonic Plague

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services confirms a case of bubonic plague in Michigan.

They say the patient recently came back from Colorado, an area with reported plague activity.

The department says the patient lives in Marquette County.

That person is recovering and getting the appropriate treatment.

The health department says there is no concern for human to human transmission.

This marks the first case of the plague in the state.
