East Jordan Multi-Use Building Coming to Downtown
A Northern Michigan city will add a new building, with new commercial spaces to their downtown.
A group of local people teamed up to buy the downtown space and bring new business to the area.
Their company, Cannonball LLC, purchased space right in downtown East Jordan to build what they’re describing as a multi-use building.
9 & 10’s Blayke Roznowski and photojournalist Erin Malone has details on the new project and what it means for the community.
"People are looking at East Jordan in a big way right now," East Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce director Mary Faculak said.
East Jordan’s downtown is getting a new addition: a new multi-use development.
"We just had this corner space that became available and we just saw the potential in that as a great location to build something and really enhance our community," Cannonball LLC partner Katie McLeod said.
Cannonball LLC, a company made of seven community members, bought the space right on Main St. and M-32.
They plan to build a premier two-story restaurant with two attached retail spaces.
"You’ll be able to look out over the river and the lake, which we think will definitely be a great, great thing for our community and attract people, hopefully, from all over to enjoy this community we live in," McLeod said.
The community reaction has been great so far.
"Very positive," Faculak said. "I think the big question now is when is it going to be up and when can we get in this space. So people are cheering this on. People are excited."
They expect to break ground this fall and complete the project by this time next year.
