Northern Michigan Foundation Brings Community Together

The Father Fred Foundation is bringing a Northern Michigan community together to harvest happiness.

The nationwide organization, Food Core partnered with the Father Fred Foundation to organize a garden restoration project.

Today, as part of the national day of service, the organizations started the garden which will be used to grow fruits and vegetables for the local food pantry.

“It seemed very natural that we would like to have fresh local food grown right here on site that can go directly to the food pantry where families can have access to that and it became easy for them to learn how to prep fresh local food to have access to it and feed their families the way they would like to.”

Also part of the effort, teachers in Grand Traverse and Benzie Counties are featuring healthy eating habits as a part of their curriculum.
