Manistee wins second straight over Ludington

Manistee – In the state’s fourth longest-running high school football rivalry, Manistee prevailed over Ludington for the second consecutive year, winning 49-21 Friday night to maintain the rights to the Dad’s Trophy.

“It’s always big and it starts us off on the right foot this season,” Manistee coach Tod Miller said. “It’s one game at a time, but without that, it’s hard to regroup after that first one. Now we’ve got a big game against Orchard View next week.

“One of the things we’re trying to work on is teaching these kids to be good, young man and try to understand what it means to be a winner.”

The Chippewas (1-0) travel to Muskegon Orchard View next Thursday, while Orioles (0-1) host Hesperia.
