St. Ignace looks to keep Ski Valley streak alive

ST. IGNACE – Although only a member of the Ski Valley Conference since 2012, St. Ignace has set an unprecedented mark.

In three seasons with the Ski Valley, the Saints have yet to drop a league contest, winning 18 consecutive games by an average 37 points per game, outscoring opponents 816-157 in three years.

Along the way, St. Ignace has made 11 straight postseason appearances, winning four district championships and advancing to the Division 8 state semifinals twice.

Led by 2014 AP All-State First Team defensive back Gage Kreski, the Saints will go for their fourth straight conference this fall.

“Hopefully that experience of a playoff run will help propel us to a conference championship and then maybe back into the playoffs,” St. Ignace coach Marty Spencer said.

St. Ignace kicks off its season Friday, hosting Central Lake in a Ski Valley tilt.
