Cedarville football returns valuable experience

CEDARVILLE – A year after advancing to the 8-man state championship and recording its best season in team history, the Cedarville football program is back for more in 2015.

After an 8-1 regular season in 2014, Cedarville made quick work of Bellaire, Rapid River and Deckerville in the postseason before falling to undefeated Lawrence in the state finals.

In addition to posting the most wins (11) in a single season, Cedarville earned valuable experience during its extended playoff run last fall, which the Trojans plan to carry over into the new year.

“More than anything, it was just the building experience for us,” Cedarville coach Scott Barr said. “We know that we can get that far. At some point, we’d like to get back there, and we know that it’s possible. So I think these kids come in hungry, right now. Some of them have that experience, and obviously they want to experience that for themselves as well.”

Cedarville opens its season at home Friday, hosting Ontonagon.
