Farwell football continues rebuilding effort

FARWELL – The journey for the Farwell football team hasn’t been an easy one over the last three years, but the Eagles are lacing up their cleats with a better knowledge of the game this fall.

Although going winless last year and winning a combined two games between 2012 and 2013, second-year coach Ben Bryant is passionate and proud of the work put forth by his players as they rebuild a program.

"We have a small group of kids,” Bryant said. “We only have 18 or 19 players, but all of these guys are good, hard workers. We don’t have to worry about anybody cheating on reps, being short on the line, because we know that they will all put forth their best effort."

That passion has also carried down to the players.

"This group of guys right here might not be the biggest but we have the most heart that probably has been through Farwell in a long time,” said senior Austin Maxey.

Farwell opens its season with three consecutive road games, kicking off the fall at Coleman on Aug. 28, when they’ll look to end a two-game skid against the Comets.
