Police in Louisiana are trying to figure out what led a man to open fire on moviegoers in a Lafayette theater.

A state police bomb squad went to the scene outside the Grand Theater after canines hit on a backpack and other items in the suspected gunman's car.

They ended up blowing up a suspicious package, but didn't find any explosive devices.

Investigators say the 58-year-old shooter acted alone Thursday night as he shot moviegoers at random, before turning the gun on himself.

He killed at least two people and injured nine others.

The Louisiana governor visited some of the injured at a local hospital, including two teachers he describes as heroes.

"Despite being injured, the second teacher was able to pull a fire alarm and help to save other lives."

Police say about 100 people were there to see the comedy, Trainwreck.

Investigators don't have a motive yet.

They say they know the shooter's identity, but have yet to release it.
