Water And Sewage Rates To Rise In Detroit

The cost of water and sewage services in Detroit will go up.

The city council approved a 7.5 percent rate hike.

It's expected to help fill a $27 million hole in the city's water and sewer department budget.

As of now, the services cost people about $71 a month.

The new increase works out to about $5 more each month.

The city is still looking into a water affordability plan for low-income customers.
