Newaygo County Thunderstorm Knocks Tree Over, Trapping People in Car

A scary situation for some people trapped inside a car, following a severe thunderstorm that swept through Newaygo County. 

The National Weather Service says high winds knocked over a tree, trapping people inside a car just before 12:30 this morning. 

The incident happened on Ferris South near One Mile Road near White Cloud. 

A woman inside the car was injured. 

Emergency crews are busy responding to reports of trees and power lines down after storms swept through Northern Michigan overnight. 

Just over 400 Great Lakes Energy customers are waking up without power in Lake, Mecosta, Newaygo, Mason, Osceola and Charlevoix County.
