Girls Qualifying Softball Tournament Begins in Mt. Pleasant
Organizers say some of the best softball athletes in Michigan will be competing in Mount Pleasant.
The Michigan Amateur Softball Association’s Class A Girls' Fast-Pitch Softball tournament starts today.
With 90 teams from across the state, athletes will be in from all over — from the Upper Peninsula down to the Metro Detroit area.
Girls participating are ages 12 to 18.
At any given time, six sites will be running at once — with 15 teams out at one time.
Some girls will use this weekend to advance even further in softball.
“Those that are participating in this tournament have the opportunity to burst to the ASA national tournament. Otherwise if they don't earn that, they can earn bursts to the regional tournaments across the nation,” said Steve Hofer of Mount Pleasant Parks and Recreation.
The tournament ends this Sunday. Click here for more information on where the games will be played.
