Fourth Of July Fireworks Safety
The Fourth of July is coming up, and a lot of people will be wanting to celebrate with fireworks.
They can of course be dangerous, but they can also be fun if used safely.
The Manistee Fire Department says fireworks cause more than 17,000 fires in the country every year.
But the number one injury-causing product is seemingly tame–sparklers.
They say if you just want to see a show, letting someone else do the work is always best.
“Keep in mind for the 4th, if you’re gonna go out go to a public display. It’s a lot safer since those people are licensed to use those explosives,” said Heath Darling, Manistee Deputy Fire Chief.
But for those who want to light fireworks themselves, stay sober and keep a water source nearby.
And if you’re just watching, keep your distance from the explosives themselves.
