Tornado Touches Down In West Michigan

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touchdown today in West Michigan.

It happened in Ionia County’s city of Portland.

The Ionia County sheriff says emergency crews responded to damaging high winds in the city.

Take a look at the damage left behind by the EF-1 tornado.

Buildings ripped to pieces and trees and power lines knocked down.

Deputies say some people were even trapped inside buildings, but all got out safely.

No serious injuries have been reported.

“At this point in time as you can see we’ve deployed the technical rescue team. No fatalities and minimal injuries, cuts and bruises. No one, repeat, no one transported to the hospital.”

Cadaver dogs have been brought in to search for any missing people.
