Ireland Mourns Victims Of Deadly Balcony Collapse

Irish flags flew at half staff today as the country continues to mourn the victims of a deadly balcony collapse.

Six peopled died and seven injured Tuesday when the balcony, holding at least 13 Irish and Irish-American people in Berkeley, California, collapsed.

From the 5th floor, it fell about 50 feet onto the pavement.

Five of the students were from Ireland, the 6th from California.

Those back in Ireland still can’t believe what happened.

“The community as a whole is absolutely heartbroken by this tragedy, its unprecedented and we’ve never seen anything like it and our focus at the moment is supporting those students, their families and anyone affected by this.”

Many involved in the accident had just arrived in the bay area from Ireland for a summer work program.
