Prison Employee Charged With Promoting Prison Contraband, Criminal Facilitation in New York

Hundreds of law enforcement officers searching from above and on the ground in upstate New York.

The convicted killers, David Sweat and Richard Matt, have been on the run for 10 days now.

More than 800 state and federal officers are on the ground working 12 hour shifts each day.

The Clinton County prosecutor says prison employee, Joyce Mitchell was supposed to pick the two up at the power plant near the Clinton Correctional Facility then drive them seven hours away.

But they would not tell her the location.

Mitchell is now charged with promoting prison contraband and criminal facilitation.

Community members hope the fugitives are caught soon — but they aren’t taking any chances.
