Saving Plants During Severe Weather
With storms in the forecast, a reminder that heavy rain might not be great for your spring flowers.
Family Farm and Home in Cadillac has advice to protect your gardens.
Manager Chuck Hettich says while plants love soft rain, they don’t want to be beaten by it.
“Just cover up your live plants like that so if you’ve got a heavy down pour you’re not beating your plants to death,” Hettich said. “If you’ve got plants like this that you can take inside fo the house … until the storm is over.”
He says the water will still go to the roots if they are protected and covered by buckets or even blankets.
