Sen. Peters Introduces Bill Promoting Investments in Vehicle Technology

In Washington D.C., Senator Gary Peters introduced a bill promoting investments in vehicle technology.

It would allow states to use federal money to install “V2I” technology.

The technology allows communication between vehicles and infrastructure.

Helping improve vehicle safety, avoid congestion and reduce accidents.

Northern Michigan’s News Leader spoke to Senator Peters about the bill and why it’s so important to Michigan.

“These are the cars of the future, ” said Senator Peters. “You could see autonomous vehicles in just a few years, less than ten years, and we want to make sure all of that is made in Michigan and we continue to be the leader in the automotive sector.”

Senator Peters added that both Ford and GM are already working on models with these types of technology.
